Responsibilities and authority
In March 2022, the former Digital Investment Board was renamed the Deputy Ministers’ Committee on Digital and Data (DMCDD). They’re responsible for:
- Developing and overseeing the implementation of digital and data plans and strategies
- Establishing policies and standards
- Approving cross-government digital and data projects that support government priorities
The DMCDD also provides capital funding to ministries for digital products that improve public services for people in British Columbia. This involves establishing investment priorities, approving digital projects and monitoring project progress.
The DMCDD has authority to approve projects that cost less than $50 million in total. If a project costs more than this limit, Treasury Board must also approve it.
Annual report
The DMCDD prepares and publishes an annual report each year to promote transparency and accountability around their digital investments.
Terms of Reference
The DMCDD’s Terms of Reference outline the Committee’s accountabilities and authorities.

Funding items for the DMCDD
Review funding timelines for digital projects and guidance to help you prepare to bring your funding item forward to the DMCDD.
Non-funding items for the DMCDD
Every DMCDD meeting agenda includes informational items and decision items not related to funding an IM/IT investment. Those agenda items have a similar process to funding items, but a slightly different timeframe and PowerPoint template.
If you’re presenting a non-funding item to the DMCDD, use this PowerPoint template and submit it to our email.
