About the training
Who should attend
This course is recommended for anyone who is part of a team onboarding onto the OpenShift platform in the B.C. Government Private Cloud PaaS.
What it includes
There are 2 components to the training.
Part 1: Workshop component
The full-day workshop will give you an overview of how to build applications for the B.C. government in OpenShift. Developers, DevOps specialists, product owners, scrum masters, security analysts, business analysts and anyone else who is part of a product team on OpenShift will benefit from this training.
Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions about the platform and application development process.
Part 2: Lab component
The lab component is designed to be completed within 2 work weeks and at your own pace. There are 3 touch-point sessions over the 2-week period: a welcome meeting, a mid-way checkpoint and a wrap-up session.
During the lab, you’ll learn how to use OpenShift objects, troubleshoot common issues and deploy an application in OpenShift.
Lab activities are very technical and require development or DevOps experience. Team members who aren’t building the application, including product owners, don’t need to complete the lab.
What you’ll learn
The topics covered in the training include:
- DevOps values and best practices
- Open-source application development best practices
- An overview of OpenShift and the architecture of the platform
